Where urgent works are to be carried out, phone authorisation (1300 631 948) is required and an Authorisation number
obtained.
The Notification to Safework shall identify an Independent third-party who is undertaking the clearance inspection.
Consultation undertaken
Any breach that poses immediate threat to workers of death or serious bodily injury will result in the worker being removed from the site.
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENT PROVIDES PROCEDURES FOR THE WH&S OF OUR PERSONNEL ON SITE AND IS TO BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES.

Demobilisation & Clean Up
A designated decontamination area must be established.ย
Personal decontamination involves the removal of all visible asbestos dust/residue from PPE and RPE. Personal decontamination must be undertaken each time a worker leaves the asbestos removal work area and at the completion of the asbestos maintenance or service work.ย ย
Personal decontamination should be done within the asbestos removal work area to avoid recontamination.ย
Appendix:
This Safety Management Plan has been prepared prior to commencement of the project.
Consultation.
Consultation has been undertaken by way of toolbox talks with:
- Other PCBU where there are multiple PCBU on site.
- HSR & HSCX where appointed.
- Management, site supervisor and workers where appropriate.
- Client, other stakeholders where appropriate.
The consultation has included:
- Sharing of relevant information.
- Reasonable opportunity for workers to share their views and raise issues.
- Reasonable opportunity for workers to contribute to the decision-making process.
- A process for taking workers’ views into account, and
- A process for notifying workers of outcomes.
High risk construction work
High risk construction work means construction work that—
- a. involves a risk of a person falling more than 2 m
- b. is carried out on a telecommunication tower
- c. involves demolition of an element of a structure that is load-bearing
- d. involves demolition of an element of a structure that is related to the physical integrity of the structure
- e. involves, or is likely to involve, disturbing asbestos
- f. involves structural alteration or repair that requires temporary support to prevent collapse
- g. is carried out in or near a confined space
- h. is carried out in or near a shaft or trench deeper than 1.5 m or a tunnel
- i. involves the use of explosives
- j. is carried out on or near pressurised gas mains or piping
- k. is carried out on or near chemical, fuel or refrigerant lines
- l. is carried out on or near energised electrical installations or services
- m. is carried out in an area that may have a contaminated or flammable atmosphere
- n. involves tilt-up or precast concrete
- o. is carried out on, in or adjacent to a road, railway, shipping lane or other traffic corridor in use by traffic other than pedestrians
- p. is carried out in an area of a workplace where there is any movement of powered mobile plant
- q. is carried out in areas with artificial extremes of temperature
- r. is carried out in or near water or other liquid that involves a risk of drowning
- s. involves diving work.
HSR, HSC, Work groups.
Where 5 or more workers make a representation to the PCBU that a HSR should be appointed then the PCBU shall follow the process to elect a HSR as identified in the Company Policy & procedures Manual. Where a HSR has been requested then the PCBU shall discuss with workers the need to establish Work groups to represent different parts of the business with varying tasks.
Incidents & accidents.
In the event of an incident refer to the Emergency Management plan.
All incidents shall be reported to the
- Supervisor
- PCBU
- Site Principal Contractor
- Safework in the event of lost time or a dangerous event.
The incident shall be investigated in accordance with the Company Policy & procedures Manual.
Inductions.
All workers shall undertake various inductions as outlined in the Company Policy & procedures Manual:
- General Construction Induction Course (white card)
- Company induction.
- Site induction to include.
- Site rules
- Content of the WHS Management plan
- SWMS relevant to their work.
- Consultation processes.
- Incident reporting.
- Task induction.
Retention of documents.
A copy of the plan will be kept for the duration of the construction project or, in the event of a notifiable incident, for a period of at least 2 years.
Roles & Responsibilities.
Roles & Responsibilities of relevant person for WHS
PCBU & IMS Manager.
- shall provide reasonable instruction.
- Shall provide resources for the project.
- Shall undertake consultation with workers, stakeholders and other PCBU.
- Implement the company Health Safety & Rehabilitation procedures.
- Observe all safety requirements and Statutory rules and regulations.
- Ensure all works are conducted in a manner safe and without risk to Worker health and safety.
- Plan to do all work safely.
- Provide advice and assistance on safety to all Workers.
- Participate in the planning and design stages of trade activities.
- Ensure current safety training programs in advance and allow for Workers identified as requiring training to attend the training.
- Action safety reports and carrying out workplace inspections.
- Prepare and participating in safety meetings and safety programs.
- Facilitate the preparation of Safe Work Method Statements for the trade.
- Insist and ensure safe work practices.
- Investigate hazard reports and ensuring corrective actions are undertaken.
- Conduct toolbox talks and daily team briefings.
- Participate in accident/incident investigations.
- Lead by example and promoting safety at every opportunity.
- Supervise and ensuring compliance with safe work procedures.
- Provide suitable employment to assist rehabilitation initiatives.
- Stimulate a high level of safety awareness.
Site supervisor
- shall provide reasonable instruction.
- Shall undertake consultation with workers, stakeholders and other PCBU.
- Observe all safety requirements and Statutory rules and regulations.
- Ensure all works are conducted in a manner safe and without risk to Worker health and safety.
- Plan to do all work safely.
- Provide advice and assistance on safety to all Workers.

- shall follow reasonable direction form the PCBU.
- shall not wilfully injure themselves or others.
- shall not interfere with anything provided for the WH&S of workers and others.
- Shall report all incidents, hazards and dangerous events to their supervisor.
Review of the Safety Plan.
This plan shall be reviewed in the following circumstances.
- Dangerous event.
- Lost time injury.
- The HSR or HSC requires a review.
- Receipt of a Regulator issued notice.
- The project continues for more than 12 months.
SWMS
The SWMS shall be provided for all high-risk construction activities, discussed, and work performed in accordance with that SWMS. The site supervisor shall ensure work is performed in accordance with the SWMS as described in the Company Policy & procedures Manual. A SWMS shall
- identify the high-risk construction work to which it applies.
- identify the foreseeable hazards and risks.
- identify the control measures to be implemented.
- describe how control measures are to be implemented, monitored, and reviewed.
- has been set out and expressed in a way that is readily accessible and understandable to the workers that will be required to use it.
- SWMS will be kept for the duration of the construction project or, in the event of a notifiable incident, for a period of at least 2 years.
Training & Competency.
All workers shall undertake the training relevant to their task, hold any required licences, provide evidence of that training, and produce a VOC as relevant in accordance with the Company Policy & procedures Manual.
